News release from Visit Fort Wayne:
Gold Wing Road Riders Association Rolls Into Fort Wayne For 34th Wing Ding Event!
(July 7, 2011) – Visit Fort Wayne, the City of Fort Wayne, Allen County and the Memorial Coliseum are pleased to welcome the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) to Fort Wayne for the 34th annual Wing Ding. The event will be held at the Memorial Coliseum July 3-7, 2012.
The GWRRA picked our community due to our continuing relationship with the meeting planners, and our outstanding venues, amenities and community support that they experienced in the past. The event was previously held in Fort Wayne in 2002 and 2005, making 2012 the third time it has been hosted in our community.
During the holiday week, the GWRRA and its founders will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the organization with numerous community events, including a Welcome Party in Grabill, Rooftop and Firework Anniversary Celebration and Light Parade at IPFW and a Grand Parade.
Other activities include Poker Rides throughout Northeast Indiana, TinCaps Game Night at Parkview Field, and bus tours to Auburn, DeKalb, and DeBrand Fine Chocolates.
The Wing Ding will roll in between 7,500-8,000 attendees from across the United States, which is the largest single event our community hosts. Over a four-day period, the economic impact is estimated at between $4.5 and $5.5 million.
