Interim Appointments at IPFW Announced
Walter J. Branson, current vice chancellor for financial affairs at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), has been named interim chancellor for the time period July 1 to Aug. 31, 2012. The appointment, made by Purdue University officials, is to cover the time between the retirement of current Chancellor Michael Wartell and the arrival on campus of IPFW’s new Chancellor, Vicky
Carwein.Branson has been vice chancellor for financial affairs at IPFW since February 1993. As chief financial officer, Branson is responsible for the budgetary and financial control of the campus. In addition to his role as a member of the executive staff, he directs the operations of six departments employing more than 280 people; serves as the campus public records officer; is a primary campus contact to area legislators; and oversees the operation of the Indiana-Purdue Foundation at Fort Wayne.
A native of Winchester, Ind., Branson is a Purdue graduate and spent 15 years working in various positions at Purdue before coming to IPFW.
IPFW is also pleased to announce Joseph N. Khamalah is the interim assistant vice chancellor for academic programs for academic year
2012-13. Steven T. Sarratore, interim vice chancellor for academic affairs, said Khamalah “…brings considerable experience to the position, having served as chair of the Department of Management and Marketing in the Doermer School of Business (DSB), an associate dean of DSB, and an Office of Academic Affairs Fellow. He also played a major role in IPFW’s successful Higher Learning Commission (HLC) reaccreditation.”Khamalah is a graduate of the University of Nairobi in Kenya and the University of Waterloo in Canada. Before joining the IPFW faculty in 1999 he held positions at several universities in Nairobi and Canada.
