Tomorrow morning, Wednesday, December 3rd, is a second meeting regarding Carl Walker’s suggestions for setting up a Parking Authority in the downtown area. Â The meeting is at 8:30 am and will be held in the Grand Wayne Center. Â From Monday’s Journal Gazette:Â
Parking authority
City officials will discuss plans to create a separate department to deal with downtown parking at a meeting Wednesday. Residents will have an opportunity to hear from representatives from Carl Walker Parking Consultants, the consultants the city hired for $23,000 to study downtown parking issues.
City leaders want to hear from residents, particularly those who live, work or frequently visit downtown about the consultant’s plan. The idea is to create a unified downtown parking system to ensure that finding a parking spot remains easy and affordable when the number of people visiting downtown – hopefully – increases.
The plan includes creating a downtown parking authority that would have jurisdiction only in central Fort Wayne.
City officials expect to take the plan to the City Council for approval in early 2009.
