…ONE MORE HOT AND HUMID DAY FOR THE REGION…
.HIGH PRESSURE WILL SLOWLY DRIFT EASTWARD AS A COLD FRONT APPROACHES FROM THE NORTHWEST TONIGHT INTO THURSDAY. AFTER A WARM START THIS MORNING TEMPERATURES WILL RAPIDLY REBOUND BACK INTO THE LOWER TO MIDDLE 90S. THIS COMBINED WITH HIGHER HUMIDITIES WILL ALLOW FOR HEAT INDEX READINGS IN THE 97 T0 102 DEGREE RANGE. IN ADDITION THE PAST 2 NIGHTS HAVE BEEN VERY WARM AND MUGGY WITH A SIMILAR SETUP POSSIBLY OCCURRING WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED A HEAT ADVISORY…WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT /11 PM CDT/ TONIGHT.
* TEMPERATURE…EARLY MORNING TEMPERATURES IN THE MIDDLE 70S TO AROUND 80 WILL QUICKLY CLIMB INTO THE LOWER TO MIDDLE 90S BY MID AFTERNOON. HEAT INDEX READINGS WILL RANGE FROM 97 TO 102 IN MANY LOCATIONS FOR AT LEAST A FEW HOURS. EVENING TEMPERATURES WILL ONLY DROP BACK INTO THE 80S WITH HEAT INDEX READINGS IN THE UPPER 80S TO AROUND 90.
* IMPACTS…OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES COULD BECOME HAZARDOUS FOR THOSE SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE HEAT…INCLUDING THOSE WITH MEDICAL CONDITIONS. RESIDENTS IN HOMES WITH NO AIR CONDITIONING COULD BE OVERCOME BY THE HIGH TEMPERATURES DESPITE BEING OUT OF DIRECT SUNLIGHT. PETS LEFT OUTSIDE WITHOUT WATER OR SHADE AS WELL AS IN VEHICLES CAN BE QUICKLY OVERCOME BY THE HEAT.

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN POSSIBLE…RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.
TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY HEAT SHOULD BE MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE IS AN EMERGENCY…CALL 911.
