Administrative Professionals Week event 4/26/11

(March 18, 2011) – The International Association of Administrative Professionals® Tawasi Chapter will host their annual Administrative Professionals Week event on Tuesday, April 26th. The 2011 APW Business Expo and Breakfast event, “Celebrate All Office Professionals” will be held at the Window Garden Restaurant, 101 E. Washington Blvd., 13th Floor (One Summit Square building), in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana. The expo with area vendors will begin at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast at 8 a.m., followed by a message by keynote speaker, Barb Richards, afternoon host and program director of WAJI/Majic 95.1 radio. Registration for the expo and breakfast is $25.00 per person, or $22 per person for three or more attendees from the same company. This event is open to all office and administrative professionals. Managers are also invited to celebrate the distinctive difference office professionals make in organizations. Registration forms are available by contacting Janet Myers at 455-6374. The registration deadline is Friday, April 15th.

The 2011 theme for Administrative Professionals Day/Week is: This year, celebrate all office professionals. For Administrative Professionals Day 2011, we are veering away from the traditional celebration of the day which is centered on administrative professionals. The recession has hit everyone in the office. Downsizing has forced all of us to pull together and work harder, not just the administrative professionals in the workplace. IAAP recognizes the hard work and sacrifice from everyone. This year, celebrate all office professionals.

About the speaker: Barb Richards is WAJI’s afternoon host and program director. She graduated from Homestead High School, is alum of Fort Wayne Youtheatre, and has appeared on stage at area theatres including the Civic, Arena and First Presbyterian. Barb has received national accolades for Majic 95.1 through the years from radio publications such as Radio Ink, Gavin Report, and Radio and Records. She frequently volunteers her time to emcee non-profit fundraisers; serves on the Riley Leadership Board for Riley Hospital for Children; and is involved with the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer and Arena Dinner Theatre. She also helps with the Arthritis Foundation, United Hispanic Center and America on the Move!
