…HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW POSSIBLE TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT…

.A DEVELOPING LOW PRESSURE AREA IN THE OHIO VALLEY WILL MOVE NORTHEAST AND INTENSIFY TODAY AND TONIGHT. A BROAD AREA OF LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW WILL OVERSPREAD MUCH OF THE AREA EARLY TODAY AND CONTINUE INTO THIS EVENING BEFORE GIVING WAY TO INTENSE LAKE EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS OVER NORTHWEST INDIANA AND EXTREME SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN TONIGHT AND WEDNESDAY.

WIDESPREAD SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF GENERALLY 2 TO 4 INCHES IS EXPECTED NORTHWEST OF A KNOX TO STURGIS LINE AND 3 TO 6 INCHES SOUTHEAST. ADDITIONAL HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS IN EXCESS OF 8 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE BEGINNING TONIGHT AND CONTINUING THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT. LOCALIZED AREAS MAY RECEIVE LAKE EFFECT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS IN EXCESS OF A FOOT BY LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

* MAIN IMPACT…SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 TO 6 INCHES ARE EXPECTED WITH THE HEAVIEST AMOUNTS ACROSS SOUTHERN COUNTIES.

* OTHER IMPACTS…MOTORISTS WILL LIKELY ENCOUNTER RAPIDLY CHANGING CONDITIONS…WITH SOME ROADS BEING SNOW COVERED AND SLIPPERY.
