Press release from the Allen County Highway Department:

Allen County Highway Department storm update

(Released at 4:22 pm) – The Allen County Highway Department late this afternoon reported that most of the intersections previously closed because of storm-related debris had been cleared and were open again to traffic.

The only intersection which remains closed as of this afternoon is Old Lincoln Highway and Webster Road due to several tall utility poles which were knocked over by high winds. Work to clear that intersection is expected to continue through the night.

Also, the County has closed Sampson Road between Dawkins and Edgerton so workers can bring in equipment to remove several railroad cars which were blown off the tracks. That work is also expected to last through the night.

Roads Closed Update

The Allen County Highway Department reports the following temporary intersection closings due to debris from this morning’s storms:

  • Old Lincoln Hwy. & Webster Rd. (NEW)
  • Antwerp & Roth Road
  • Antwerp & Page
  • Antwerp & Cuba
  • Roth & Notestine
  • Roth & Grabill

There could be other County roads impassable due to downed trees and/or power lines. Motorists are urged to use caution while driving and be prepared to alter their route if they come upon downed trees or power lines. Reports of downed trees across County highways should be made to either the North Barn at 449-4781 or the South Barn at 449-4791. Do not call 9-1-1 to report a downed tree – that line should be kept clear for more pressing emergencies.
