Brightpoint Awarded Housing Certification, Funding to Expand Homeownership Opportunities
Fort Wayne, Indiana (October 28, 2026) — Brightpoint Communities Incorporated, a subsidiary of Brightpoint, was recently certified as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) through the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA).
The CHDO designation expands Brightpoint Communities’ ability to develop affordable housing and create homeownership opportunities in northeast Indiana. It also provides access to affordable housing resources, such as HOME funding, reserved for certified nonprofit housing developers.
As part of its certification, Brightpoint Communities received a $50,000 CHDO Operating Supplement from IHCDA to support the staff, systems, and planning needed to expand its affordable housing work and prepare for future projects.
Brightpoint Communities also received a $173,630 award through the federal HOME Investment Partnerships Program to construct a single-family home at 513 N. Oak Street in Columbia City. The completed home will be sold to an income-eligible homebuyer through the HOME Homebuyer Program.
“Homeownership can be life-changing for families, but access remains out of reach for many people in northeast Indiana,” said Matt Crouch, Vice President of Community Economic Development. “We’re excited to see how CHDO certification will improve our ability to help more families achieve homeownership in the future.”
Together, the certification and funding position Brightpoint Communities to pursue additional affordable housing projects and expand homeownership opportunities throughout the region.
