Sergeant Justin Snyder Promoted to First Sergeant, Assigned Leadership Role within the Digital Forensics Unit
Indianapolis, Indiana (October 1, 2026) – Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony Scott is pleased to announce the promotion of Sergeant Justin Snyder to the rank of First Sergeant. In his new role, F/Sgt. Snyder will directly supervise and manage Digital Forensics Examiners and Audio/Video Examiners across the northern half of the state within the Digital Forensics Unit.
F/Sgt. Snyder is a native of Noble County and a graduate of Central Noble High School. He continued his education at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, where he studied Fire Science and was a member of the golf team. In 2017, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Snyder graduated from the 70th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and was initially assigned to the Fort Wayne District. Throughout his time there, he primarily served Noble and LaGrange Counties and held several specialized assignments, including Field Training Officer, member of the All‑Crimes Policing Unit (ACP), Digital Media Recovery Specialist, Background Investigator, and Career Youth Camp Counselor.
In 2020, F/Sgt. Snyder was promoted to Sergeant and transferred to the CyberCrimes Unit, where he served as a Digital Forensics Examiner. In 2024, the unit transitioned to the Forensic Services Division and was renamed the Digital Forensics Unit, where F/Sgt. Snyder continued to advance his technical expertise and leadership experience.
His promotion to First Sergeant in September 2026 recognizes his continued dedication, professionalism, and extensive experience in complex digital investigations. F/Sgt. Snyder’s diverse operational background, technical proficiency, and demonstrated leadership provide a strong foundation for his responsibilities within the Digital Forensics Unit. His commitment to excellence and service continues to reflect the highest standards of the Indiana State Police.
F/Sgt. Snyder resides in rural Noble County with his wife and two children who remain at home. He is also supported by his adult son and daughter‑in‑law, whose continued encouragement contributes to his success and dedication to public service.
