A project to improve intersection safety at the Bluffton and Winchester Roads intersection received Committee Session [second reading] approval from City Council last evening.

Neighborhood infrastructure project receives Committee Session approval at City Council
Commitment to investing in neighborhoods continuesFort Wayne, Indiana (September 16, 2026) – Fort Wayne’s investment in neighborhood infrastructure improvements continues. A project to improve intersection safety led by the City of Fort Wayne’s Public Works Division received Committee Session approval from City Council last evening. Final approval will occur at a future meeting. The planned improvement total is $339,862.
The Bluffton Road and Winchester Road Intersection Improvement Project improves intersection geometrics by moving the stop bar closer to the intersection as well as expanding the concrete island to improve pedestrian safety and define a dedicated right turn for northbound Bluffton Road. There will also be updates to pedestrian safety by providing ADA compliant pedestrian signals and ADA curb ramps.
Under Mayor Sharon Tucker’s leadership the City is investing $37 million in neighborhood infrastructure enhancements this year.
