History Center Announces 2026-2027 George R. Mather Sunday Lecture Series
Fort Wayne, Indiana (September 15, 2026) — The History Center is proud to announce the presenters for the 2026-2027 George R. Mather Sunday Lecture Series. All lectures are held at 2pm at the History Center and are free to the public. All George R. Mather lectures are made possible through the generous support of the Floyd and Betty Lou Lancia Family Foundation.
The History Center will begin the George R. Mather Sunday Lecture Series on Sunday, October 4. “50 Years of ARCH: A Half Century Retrospective,” will be presented by Michael Galbraith. Although historic preservation and historical museums are close cousins, preserving the built landscape of buildings, bridges, and landscapes is a separate discipline. ARCH, the historic preservation organization for Fort Wayne, Allen County and Northeast Indiana recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. In this lecture, Galbraith will explore some of the success stories, lessons from failure and unique challenges over the past fifty years.

- January 3, 2027: Shaun Dauksas – Knute Rockne and Professional Football in Fort Wayne
- February 7, 2027: Connie Haas Zuber – From Segregation to Upscale: Roosevelt Barnes Sr’s Groundbreaking Legacy
- March 7, 2027: Dan Kruse – 100-Years of Playing the Beautiful Game
- April 4, 2027: Joey Lax-Salinas – Fading Ads of Indiana
- May 2, 2027: George Bachnivsky – The Architect’s Drawings: Brentwood Tolan and the Allen County Courthouse
- June 6, 2027: Joe Springer – Amish Mennonite Immigrants to Allen & Adams Counties
The History Center serves present and future generations by collecting, preserving, and sharing historic artifacts, documents, and images that describe the people, places, and events that define Fort Wayne and Allen County history.
