Fort Wayne Drops Wednesday Night Affair 10-1 in Michigan Capital

Lansing, Michigan (September 2, 2026) – The Fort Wayne TinCaps lost Wednesday night, 10-1, to the Lansing Lugnuts (Athletics affiliate) at Jackson Field.

Lansing (55-70, 26-35) struck first in the bottom of the third inning. Following the first hit in his affiliated career for Alex Fernandes and a double by Jared Davis, a sacrifice fly by Breyson Guedez (No. 9 Athletics prospect), and an RBI infield single by Dylan Fien put the Lugnuts up 2-0.
In the fourth, the Lugnuts put up the dagger with eight runs on six hits, all singles, two errors, and three walks as 13 batters stepped to the plate.

Fernandes drove in two runs on a sacrifice fly and an RBI single, while CJ Pittaro lined a two-run single into center field. All runs in the inning scored with two outs.

Lugnuts Jackson Nove was one out away from a quality start, going 5 2/3 innings in his fourth High-A start. The southpaw from the University of Kentucky, after giving up two hits in the first inning, kept the TinCaps (53-73, 26-34) hitless across the next 17 batters he faced. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native struck out four compared to two walks, giving up one run.

Fort Wayne third baseman Kerrington Cross ended Nove’s day with a two-out double in the sixth inning. One batter later, Cross scored the TinCaps’ lone run on an infield single by Luke Cantwell and an errant flip to first by Tanner Marsh.
