On August 27, 2026, at 1734 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire in the 7700 block of St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

On Scene: 1739 hours
Under Control: 1758 hours
The first firefighters on the scene arrived to find a light haze at the back of the house. A small, smoldering fire was found in the crawl space of the house. Firefighters had to cut through a deck to access the opening to the crawl space before the fire could be extinguished. The fire was under control within 24 minutes of being dispatched.
Two adults and a child self-evacuated before the firefighters arrived.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
