Four more projects led by the City of Fort Wayne’s Public Works Division received Committee Session approval from City Council last night.

Neighborhood infrastructure projects receive approval at City Council
Commitment to investing in neighborhoods continuesFort Wayne, Indiana (August 5, 2026) – Fort Wayne’s investment in neighborhood infrastructure improvements continues. Four more projects led by the City of Fort Wayne’s Public Works Division received Committee Session approval from City Council last night. Final approval will occur at a future meeting. The planned improvements total $1.4 million.
- Winchester Road Sidewalk Connection Phase II – A unit price of $479,470 with completion anticipated for summer 2027. This project will continue pedestrian connectivity along Winchester Road by constructing new sidewalk segments that extend south from the Phase I improvements completed in 2023. The proposed improvements will be tied into existing sidewalk infrastructure at both the north and south project limits.
- North of Airport Expressway, the sidewalk will be constructed along the west side of Winchester Road. South of Airport Expressway, the sidewalk will transition to the east side of the roadway to accommodate existing conditions and maintain continuity within the corridor. The project will also include ADA curb ramps as well as an Airport Expressway crossing to ensure safe and continuous pedestrian access across the corridor.
- Street repairs on Main Street will include milling the existing concrete pavement four inches and converting it to asphalt, along with installing a new center island – $387,328 with completion expected this construction season.
- Blue Creek Concrete Street Repairs – A unit price of $260,353 with completion anticipated for fall of 2027. This project will replace the deteriorated concrete streets throughout the neighborhood, restoring the roadway’s structural integrity while also improving overall safety, enhancing drainage performance by installing new underdrains, and supporting a more reliable and resilient transportation corridor for residents. Also included will be a minor reconfiguration of the existing concrete island.
- St. Marys Avenue Street Light Improvements from West State Boulevard to High Street will include installing 71 light poles with LED fixtures. The unit price is $321,130 and the expected completion date is this construction season.
Under Mayor Sharon Tucker’s leadership, the City is investing $37 million in neighborhood infrastructure enhancements this year.
