Statement from City of New Haven regarding Andy Card of Card and Associates

Statement from City of New Haven regarding Andy Card of Card and Associates.

City of New Haven Indiana news release:

New Haven, Indiana (July 17, 2026) – This afternoon, The City of New Haven became aware of the asset forfeiture filings involving James “Andy” Card, CEO and owner of Card & Associates. We are taking these allegations seriously and are monitoring the federal investigation closely.

Card & Associates was the developer of the New Haven Fieldhouse.

Our primary, unwavering priority is the absolute protection of New Haven taxpayer dollars and the fiduciary integrity of our city’s development projects. No city funds have been forwarded to the developer other than reimbursement for engineering and design costs. The City of New Haven owns the design plans for the Fieldhouse.

New Haven Mayor Steve McMichael issued the following statement.

“I’m deeply disappointed to hear the alleged misuse of funds by Andy Card. We performed a rigorous vetting process, and Card was given high recommendations by numerous cities and municipalities across Indiana.

Should these accusations turn out to be true, the City will move forward on the project with another developer. We want to reassure our residents, business owners, and regional partners that New Haven operates with strict internal fiscal controls. We are fully committed to ensuring that the development of the New Haven District moves forward transparently, legally, and in a manner that serves the best interests of our community.”

Because this is an ongoing legal issue, the City of New Haven cannot comment further at this time.
