On June 21, 2026, at 0216 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the area of Pontiac Street and Weisser Park Avenue in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Details/Summary from the Fort Wayne Police Department incident report:
On 06/21/2026 at approximately 02:16 a.m., officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the area of Pontiac Street and Weisser Park Avenue in Fort Wayne.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers immediately rendered emergency medical aid until medics arrived on scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for continued treatment. Despite life-saving efforts by police personnel, medics, and hospital staff, the male later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The intersection of Pontiac Street and Weisser Park Avenue will remain closed while members of the Homicide Unit and Air Support Unit process the scene and continue their investigation. There are no indicators of a threat to the community.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the appropriate authorities pending notification of family members.
