Fort Wayne City Utilities news release:

South Anthony Work Begins This Week
Two-way traffic maintained, no parking during water main and lead line work

Fort Wayne, Indiana (April 12, 2026) – City Utilities will begin replacing a more than 100-year-old water main along South Anthony Boulevard—an area with a history of frequent breaks—bringing traffic and parking restrictions. The project will also assist the older homes with replacing their property’s lead service line.

Starting on Monday, April 13, parking will not be allowed between East Pontiac Street and Oxford Street. Traffic flow will be condensed, but one lane will be maintained in each direction at all times.

Crews will replace the 12-inch water main, originally installed in 1919. Following that work, crews will upgrade service lines connecting homes to the system.

This includes replacing older lead service lines through City Utilities’ Lead Service Line Replacement Program. These are the homeowner-owned lines that run from the curb stop into the home. Homes built before 1937 are more likely to have lead, and some built before 1981 may as well. Many homes along this area will be part of the Lead Line Replacement. The project is expected to last about three months.
