Indiana is Open for Business: March’s Jobs, Wages and Regional Investment Wins

Indianapolis, Indiana (April 9, 2026) – Indiana Governor Mike Braun is highlighting a March of record-breaking investment, strong wage growth, entrepreneurial support and regional development across agriculture, life sciences, advanced manufacturing and quality of place.

The following major announcements were made in March 2026.

Agriculture & Life Sciences: $1B Commitment to Grow Over 100,000 New Jobs in 10 Years

Governor Braun formally announced a major investment in agricultural and life sciences with the goal of creating 100,000 high-wage jobs over 10 years and making Indiana the premier U.S. destination where human therapeutics, animal health, agritech, biotechnology and environmental innovation flow together along the vital, anchored pathway of private-sector excellence.

This historic commitment over 10 years to Indiana’s life sciences sector strengthens the state’s national leadership while supporting the creation of high-quality jobs over the next decade and driving meaningful wage growth for Hoosiers.

IEDC First-Quarter Results: 19 Business Commitments, 1,368 New Jobs at $45.34/Hour Average Wages

At the March Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) Board of Directors meeting, Governor Braun shared the IEDC’s first-quarter results.

So far this year, 19 businesses have committed to locating or expanding in Indiana, together pledging to create 1,368 new jobs with average wages of $45.34 per hour — an increase from last year’s record of over $40 per hour.

These results reflect continued momentum for Indiana’s pro-growth, pro-jobs economic development strategy.

Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition: Supporting the Next Generation of Hoosier Entrepreneurs

Governor Braun participated in the state’s first-ever Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition (ETA) Conference at Butler University, highlighting Indiana’s focus on preserving locally owned businesses and supporting the next generation of Hoosier entrepreneurs.

The conference brought together entrepreneurs, investors, business owners and advisors from across the state to explore ETA as a strategy for sustaining Main Street Hoosier businesses, retaining jobs and strengthening community stability.

READI: Statewide Groundbreakings and Ribbon Cuttings Advance Quality of Place and Economic Competitiveness

Governor Braun announced four groundbreaking and ribbon-cutting projects in March funded through the Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI) program.

From blight redevelopment to community enrichment, these initiatives in communities across the state represent Indiana’s focus on advancing investments that support quality of place and economic competitiveness.

READI 2.0 Project Highlight: Gas City YMCA Expansion to Create 50 Jobs

Among the READI-supported projects announced in March was the new Gas City YMCA southwest-side campus, which will serve as a multi-purpose community hub for recreation and social connection.

The campus will offer health and wellness, youth development, education and community programming opportunities for residents of Gas City and the surrounding area.

The project is expected to generate 50 jobs while strengthening community life and supporting regional growth.
