On March 8 2026, at 0310 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire in the 1000 block of Edgewater Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Time of Alarm: 0310 hours
On Scene: 0313 hours
Under Control: 0344 hours
The first firefighters on the scene found heavy fire in the back of the house. Firefighters attempted to make entry through the front of the house but were pushed back by intense heat and flames. The fire was then aggressively extinguished to allow entry.
The home was under renovation, and vacant.
There was not a working smoke detector, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Crews will remain, on the scene, to address hot spots.
