
On January 25, 2026, at 0408 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to an apartment fire in the 5900 block of Meadows Drive, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Time of Alarm: 0408 hours
On Scene: 0411 hours
Under Control: 0435 hours
The first firefighters on the scene found smoke and fire coming from one of the apartments. Firefighters were able to get into the structure for fire attack and search and rescue activities.
Residents were able to self-evacuate, but reported to firefighters that there was still a female in the fire apartment that was unaccounted for. Firefighters were able to locate the woman. Life saving measures were performed by firefighters and TRAA medics at the scene, but were unsuccessful.
One resident was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
As of the time of this report, it is not clear how many residents were home at the time of the fire or how many will be displaced.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
