
On January 2, 2026, at 2106 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a fire in the Becker and St. Joe Center Roads area of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The first firefighters on the scene found a two-story home with the entire first floor involved in heavy fire. Crews pulled multiple hose lines and made entry into the home to extinguish the blaze. The fire required extensive overhaul of the structure due to the amount of fire involved. The fire was under control in 19 minutes from the initial time of alarm.
The homeowner had been asleep on the couch on the first floor and awakened to fire all around him. He was able to self-evacuate, however, he had some smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene by medics. He was not transported to the hospital.
