
On December 12, 2025, at 1800 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to an apartment fire in the 5500 block of Old Dover Boulevard, Fort Wayne Indiana.

On Scene: 1803 hours
Under Control: 1818 hours
The first firefighters on the scene found a light haze of smoke coming from the common entryway. Firefighters stretched a handline and aggressively attacked the fire located in a first floor apartment. Other crews arrived and searched to ensure all occupants were out, and checked for fire extension to the second floor. Working smoke detectors alerted occupants. The fire was contained to a bedroom in a first floor apartment, and was under control in 15 minutes.
Five residents located throughout the eight apartments were able to self evacuate prior to the fire departments arrival.
The cause of the fire was determined to be a candle left unattended that was too close to combustible materials.
