On November 19, 2025, at 1055 hours, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department attempted to stop a Fort Wayne Community Schools white multipurpose bus after the bus was tailgating their police vehicle.

Details/Summary: On November 19, 2025, at 10:55 a.m., officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department attempted to stop a Fort Wayne Community Schools white multipurpose bus after the bus was tailgating their police vehicle. The officers pulled over to let the bus pass by, then got behind it to investigate. When the officers activated emergency lights to pull the bus over, the driver failed to stop, leading to a pursuit. The pursuit ended at the rear of a business near the intersection of N. Coliseum Blvd. and Pontiac Street. The driver remained inside the vehicle and refused to exit after several loud hails by officers to exit.
The Emergency Services Team and the Crisis Response Team responded to assist. FWPD Air Support Unit confirmed that no children were on the bus during the incident.
Shortly after, the driver was taken into custody without further incident and transported to a local
hospital for a medical evaluation. It is not yet known whether a medical condition contributed to the driver’s behavior at this time.This incident is under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department.
