Construction Resources of Indiana employee who suffered heart attack saved due to fast responseFort Wayne, Indiana (March 25, 2019) – Mayor Tom Henry today recognized individuals from OmniSource, Fort Wayne Fire Department, Fort Wayne Police Department, and Three Rivers Ambulance Authority for helping save the life of a Construction Resources of Indiana employee.
Steve Hoffman of Construction Resources of Indiana suffered a heart attack on OmniSource property on January 21. Due to the quick response of OmniSource employees and then public safety and first responders, Hoffman has made a full recovery. Construction Resources of Indiana is owned by Geiger Excavating.
Mayor Henry presented certificates of excellence to the following individuals.

“I encourage all residents of Fort Wayne to learn CPR and be able to respond accordingly in an emergency situation,” said Mayor Henry. “We’re thankful for the positive outcome for Mr. Hoffman and wanted to take this opportunity today to recognize unsung heroes in our community.”
The Fort Wayne Fire Department provides advanced life-saving (ALS) services to people in need of care. This is a result of a 2016 agreement between the FWFD and Three Rivers Ambulance Authority to allow for a firefighter paramedic or advanced EMT on every fire engine. The FWFD is able to provide life-saving care upon arrival.
In 2018, the FWFD added 26 ALS personnel to its emergency response bringing the total number of ALS-certified personnel to 52. This year, the department will graduate another 11 firefighters from the advanced EMT course, with another 18 beginning their training by the end of the year.
