
On October 30, 2019, at 1657 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 2206 Broadway, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire and smoke coming from the multi-unit BTE Storage facility. An aggressive offensive attack was made.
Firefighters eventually found one victim, a Caucasian male, who had been trapped in the extremely heavy smoke and fire conditions. The roof had also collapsed and pinned the victim under a considerable amount of debris. The victim was declared deceased by EMS personnel. One victim who had been on the scene before firefighters arrived was transported to a local hospital with burns to his arm.
Crews on remained on the scene for several hours to continue the investigation and overhaul process. Broadway was closed for approximately 90 minutes as crews extinguished the fire.
