On May 5, 2019, at 1702 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire in the 2400 block of Evans Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Under Control: 1712 hours
A neighbor saw smoke coming from the roof of a home in the 2400 block of Evans Street and reported it to 9-1-1. Firefighters were dispatched and units were on the scene within four minutes. A quick attack and knockdown of the flames in six minutes revealed the fire had started in the kitchen.
No occupants were home at the time of the fire. One dog was rescued, but two other dogs perished.
