FWFD: House Fire, 1700 block Richardson Street

On April 4, 2020, at 0307 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire in the 1700 block of Richardson Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Time of Alarm: 0307 hours
On Scene: 0309 hours
Under Control: 0359 hours

FWFD and FWPD units responded to the corner of Richardson Street and Runnion Avenue due to reports of a house that was on fire. Upon arrival FWPD officers assisted two occupants and a dog off of a porch roof. Firefighters found an exterior fire that was consuming a stairwell that led to two apartments on the second-floor and extending to the home next door at 1730 Richardson Street. The fire also traveled to the roof and attic area of the structure. Firefighters aggressively searched the five apartments that were located at this address to make sure that everyone had made it out of the building safely. Firefighters then worked for an hour to bring the fire under control.

No injuries were reported to the occupants or firefighters at the scene.
