On October 23, 2023, at 2157 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a duplex fire in the 800 block of West Wayne Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Time of Alarm: 2157 hours
On Scene: 2202 hours
Under Control: 2209 hours
The first crews arrived and pulled a line to attack the fire and start a search of the structure.
Crews were able to locate and remove a victim from the house within two minutes of their arrival. Medical care was started immediately by firefighters on the scene. Care was then transferred to the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority. The patient was transported to a local hospital.
One cat was also pulled from the fire and was handed over to Fort Wayne Animal Control. The fire was brought under control and the rest of the residence was cleared.
The fire is under investigation at this time.
