FWFD: Mobile Home Fire, 6800 block Winford Shoals

On June 24, 2023, at 2351 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a possible gas explosion in mobile home in the 6800 block of Winford Shoals, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Time of Alarm: 2351 hours
On Scene: 2358 hours
Under Control: 0016 hours

The first engine on the scene found a single-wide trailer home fully involved with fire. The Second engine on the scene confirmed that all occupants were out but the four occupants had various minor to moderate injuries. Crews used larger handlines to knock down the fire quickly. Additional lines were used to protect and cool the structures surrounding the unit on fire. All of those structures had varying degrees of melted siding but no actual flame involvement.

One family dog perished in the fire. All four victims were transported to the hospital. The fire is under investigation, however, investigators are looking closely at a recently installed gas dryer.
