FWFD: House Fire, 4200 block Hoagland Avenue

On January 4, 2023, at 1730 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a possible house fire in the 4200 block of Hoagland Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Time of Alarm: 1730 hours
On Scene: 1733 hours
Under Control: 1742 hours

The first firefighters on the scene found smoke and fire showing from the second floor and attic area. Firefighters entered the home and worked to extinguish the fire. The blaze was controlled in approximately 10 minutes.

The occupant, who was home at the time of the fire, was able to evacuate the structure without injury.

It is unknown if there was a working smoke detector in the home. Residents who do not have a smoke detector, or a detector that does not work, are encouraged to contact the FWFD by calling 3-1-1 to receive working smoke detectors.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
