FWFD: House Fire, 3200 block Vesey Avenue

On December 11, 2024, at 0112 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a possible basement fire in the 3200 block of Vesey Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Time of Alarm: 0112 hours
On Scene: 0117 hours
Under Control: 0142 hours

Upon firefighters arrival, they found a decent amount of smoke coming from the structure. The crew pulled a hose line into structure for fire attack. Another crew did a simultaneous search of home with nothing found. The fire was small and found in basement. The fire could have been larger if not for a broken water line which assisted with extinguishment as well as the occupants stating they discharged a fire extinguisher on the fire prior to firefighters arrival. All occupants and pets that were in the structure safely escaped.

The fire is under investigation, however, it appears a space heater was possibly too close to some combustibles.

Fire Damage: Moderate
Water Damage: Moderate
Smoke Damage: Moderate
