FWFD: Apartment Fire, 2800 block Westbrook Drive

On October 7, 2024, at 1118 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a high-rise fire alarm in the 2800 block of Westbrook Drive.

Time of Alarm: 1118 hours
On Scene: 1123 hours
Under Control: 1142 hours

While enroute, more calls were received saying there was smoke on the third-floor. A full response was called and when the first unit arrived, they were directed to a third-floor bicycle closet. Inside the room an electric bicycle battery had caught fire while being stored in the bicycle in the room. The fire was contained by the sprinkler system. Crews started immediately working on ventilating the smoke and restoring systems to the building. All occupants self-evacuated prior to firefighters arrival.

Fire Damage: Minor
Water Damage: Moderate
Smoke Damage: Minor
