
The Fort Wayne Police Department has released the name of the suspect in the Officer-involved shooting on October 5, 2020, in the 5700 block of Challenger Parkway and On October 8, 2020, released the name of the officer involved, FWPD Officer Alexis Aguilera.

Details/Summary:
Officers were called to the 5700 block of Challenger Parkway reference to a disturbance with a party armed. Upon arrival a suspect was quickly identified. When the Officer approached him he fled on foot. A chase ensued. The suspect was quickly caught and when the officer was taking him into custody the suspect opened fire on the officer. The officer returned fire, striking the suspect. The suspect was taken to a local hospital where he is said to have life-threatening injuries. The officer was not injured and a gun has been recovered at the scene.
At this time the scene is an active scene and detectives and crime scene are conducting an investigation. Indiana State Police are also on scene and conducting their own investigation of the incident as is standard for any Officer Involved Shooting involving Fort Wayne Police Department.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
