FWPD: Barricaded Subject, 5200 block South Anthony Boulevard

On October 4, 2020, at 1630 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 5200 block of South Anthony Boulevard in reference to a domestic dispute involving a party armed with a firearm.

Details/Summary:

On Sunday, 10/04/2020, at approximately 4:30 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a residence in the 5200 block of South Anthony Blvd. reference a domestic dispute involving a party armed with a firearm. The caller reported she wanted the father of her children to leave her residence. She indicated the male subject had an active arrest warrant and was armed with a firearm.

Officers arrived and established a perimeter around the residence to ensure public safety. Two adult females and several children exited the residence and advised the male subject remained inside. Officers attempted to communicate with the male subject via telephone and loud speaker without success.

At approximately 5:12 PM, the Emergency Services Team (EST) and Crisis Response Team (CRT) were called to assist. EST members repeatedly instructed the subject to exit via a loud speaker. They did not receive a response from the subject. In and effort to encourage the subject to exit, EST members introduced a chemical agent into the residence. At approximately 8:45 PM, EST members made entry and were unable to locate the subject. It appears he fled the residence prior to the initial officers arriving on scene.

This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office as additional criminal charges are pending.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
