On December 24, 2021 at 1729 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the intersection of South Anthony Boulevard and South Phoenix Parkway in reference to a vehicle accident.

Details Summary:
On December 24th, 2021 at approximately 05:29 PM officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the intersection of S. Anthony Blvd and S. Phoenix Pkwy in reference to a vehicle accident. They were informed a black pickup and white sedan were involved. Approximately 8 minutes later officers were advised a female was lying in the street non-responsive.
When officers arrived on scene they discovered the non-responsive adult female. Medics arrived and declared the female deceased on scene. Preliminary investigation has determined the white sedan, driven by the female, was attempting to pull out of S. Phoenix Pkwy and travel north onto S. Anthony Blvd. A black truck was traveling south bound on S. Anthony Blvd and collided with the white sedan. The white sedan had pulled over to the east side of S. Anthony Blvd. The truck was pulled over on the west side of S. Anthony Blvd. At this time, it is believed no injuries were incurred by either driver.
The female of the white sedan exited her vehicle and crossed the street to speak with the driver of the truck. It was believed she was attempted to exchange information with the other driver. When she was crossing the street returning to her vehicle, a black sedan traveling in the north bound lanes of S. Anthony Blvd struck her. The sedan then fled the scene.
The Fort Wayne Police Department Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT) and Air Support Unit (ASU) was called out to the scene for a thorough investigation. Preliminary investigation suggests it was a black in color challenger or charger type of vehicle. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police and the Allen County Prosecutors office. S. Anthony Blvd, just south of Lafayette St. was closed during the investigation.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
