On Thursday December 29, 2022 at approximately 7:55 PM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a personal injury accident in the 2200 block of Ludwig Road. As officers and paramedics arrived on the scene, they located an adult male laying near the roadway. Paramedics provided medical attention to the male before transporting him to a local hospital where he was listed with life threatening injuries.
Witnesses on the scene stated that four males were attempting to push a disabled vehicle westbound on Ludwig in the roadway. Investigators were advised that three males were pushing the vehicle in the rear and one male was pushing the vehicle near the driver’s door.
The driver of a vehicle traveling westbound on Ludwig Road stated that there were no headlights or hazard lights activated on the disabled vehicle and it was dark outside. The driver of the vehicle did not initially see the disabled vehicle in the roadway as the vehicle struck the disabled vehicle in the rear hitting one of the males that was pushing the vehicle.
Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department F.A.C.T team was paged to the scene to process the scene. Investigators advised that it does not appear that speed or alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
