
On September 6, 2022, approximately 1910 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a personal injury accident involving a motorcycle near the intersection of West Jefferson Boulevard and Catalpa Street.

Details/Summary:
On Tuesday September 6, 2022 at approximately 7:10 PM officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a personal injury accident involving a motorcyclist near the intersection of West Jefferson & Catalpa Street. As officers and paramedics arrived on the scene, they observed an adult male victim unresponsive on the side of the roadway.
Paramedics provided medical attention to the male victim before transporting him to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. A short time after arriving at the hospital, the male victim was pronounced deceased. The Allen County Coroners Office will release the cause of death as well as the victim’s identity.
Witnesses on the scene told investigators that the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Jefferson at a high rate of speed before losing control and crashing into a guard rail. The victim was the only person on the motorcycle. The victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Eastbound Jefferson at Freeman Street will be closed for a period of time while the scene is processed. This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department F.A.C.T Team. Jefferson Blvd was reopened at approximately 8:40 PM to all traffic.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
