Rascon, Farmer Impress in Home Debuts
Fort Wayne, Indiana (August 30, 2022) – The West Michigan Whitecaps (Detroit Tigers affiliate) broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth inning and beat the TinCaps, 5-1, on Tuesday night at Parkview Field.
Second baseman Jace Jung (pronounced Young), the Tigers’ top position player prospect, hit a go-ahead two-run double to break the tie score in the eighth. The Whitecaps (33-22, 64-57) added on another in the eighth on a wild pitch and scored an unearned run in the ninth.
West Michigan originally led, 1-0, thanks to a solo home run by No. 30 Tigers prospect, catcher Josh Crouch.
However, that was the only run the visitors scored against Fort Wayne starter Bodi Rascon. The left-hander from Texas struck out five over five innings in his Parkview Field debut.
TinCaps (20-34, 47-73) center fielder Justin Farmer was also making his home debut and tied the game with two outs in the fifth inning with a double off the left-field wall that plated Charlis Aquino, yet another newcomer.
