The FWPD responded to reports of a fight around 2:47 pm in the area of 2200 Colgate Dr. this evening. Initial dispatch comments advised that 10 people were physically fighting. Preliminary information indicates that 3 to 4 people went to a residence on Colgate Dr. to collect a debt. An altercation ensued between the residence and the people trying to collect money. During that altercation shots were fired. The nonresidence left in a blue pickup truck.
The vehicle was stopped by police at Lower Huntington Rd. and Bluffton Rd. There were 4 people in the vehicle, one was a female teenager who was shot. She was transported to a local hospital by TRAA. She is in life-threatening condition. There other 3 occupants are currently detained.
This incident is fluid and the pieces are being put together. Based on information obtained by investigators, there appears to be no ongoing threat to the public. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
