The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to reports of a serious vehicle crash at S. Clinton St and E. Williams St on Tuesday, August 20th around 7:23pm. Officers arrived to discover three vehicles involved with one of the drivers unconscious. Two of the vehicles caught fire, but the drivers were able to escape the vehicles. Fire and Medics arrived, and the unconscious driver was pronounced deceased. Another driver was taken to a local hospital in serious condition. The other driver was unharmed and is cooperating with investigators.
Investigators from the Fatal Crash Team responded to the scene along with members of the Air Support Unit. It does appear that speed was a factor in the crash. If anyone witnessed the crash, the FWPD ask that they contact 260-427-1222. This investigation is being assisted by the Allen County Coroner’s Office and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office. The name of the deceased will be released once the family has been contacted.
