On October 31st, 2024 at roughly 3:21 am the Fort Wayne Police Department attempted to serve an arrest warrant for Nicholas Thomas, stemming from a previous domestic violence incident. Nicholas refused to exit the residence and advised that he had a gun and would shoot. Continued attempts were made to get Nicholas to exit the residence voluntarily but were unsuccessful.
The Emergency Service Team, Crisis Response Team, and Air Support Unit were paged to the scene at 5:27 am because of the threat to shoot police. The CRT negotiators established communication with Nicholas in a failed attempt to get him to exit peacefully. After numerous failed attempts at getting Nicholas to exit the residence; EST made entry into the apartment and took Nicholas into custody without further incident.
