FWPD: Shooting Investigation, 4500 block Plaza Drive

On March 17, 2026, at 1134 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a local hospital in reference to a shooting investigation.

Suspect Arrested: Kyzier Powell, 19 yo

  1. Battery with a Deadly Weapon
  2. Criminal Recklessness – Shooting into an inhabited dwelling

Details/Summary:

On March 17, 2026, at approximately 1134 hours, Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a local hospital in reference to a shooting investigation. Officers arrived and located an adult male victim, suffering from a gunshot wound. Detectives with the FWPD Homicide Unit responded and conducted a criminal investigation.

During the investigation, FWPD Homicide Detectives identified Kyzier Powell, 19 years old, as a suspect in the shooting. At approximately 1235 hours, the Homicide Task Force was initiated and Kyzier Powell was located in the 4000 block of Robinwood Drive in Fort Wayne. Powell was taken into custody without incident and was preliminarily charged with Battery with a Deadly Weapon and Criminal Recklessness – Shooting into an inhabited dwelling. Powell was transported to the Allen County Jail.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
