River level adjustment planned for maintenance work on the St. Marys River

Beginning on Friday, January 30, 2026, crews will open the Tainter Gate at the Hosey Dam to temporarily lower rivers to provide safe access for maintenance crews.

River Level Adjustment Planned for Maintenance Work on St. Marys River

Fort Wayne, Indiana (January 19, 2026) – Beginning on Friday, January 30, 2026, crews will open the Tainter Gate at the Hosey Dam to temporarily lower rivers to provide safe access for crews to inspect and perform maintenance on a pipe near the intersection of Berry and Nelson streets.

The work will take place in the St. Marys River and is expected to last approximately two weeks.

Once maintenance is complete, the gate will be closed, and river levels will be returned to the managed recreational level maintained during most of the year.
