
On December 8, 2025, at 1407 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire in the 4500 block of Austin Drive, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

On Scene: 1410 hours
Under Control: 1420 hours
Firefighters arrived and reported a light haze of smoke coming from the house. Crews began attacking the fire in an upstairs bedroom. Other crews arrived and conducted a search for victims and opened windows to ventilate the house. Another crew arrived and used ladders to access the roof and to cut a hole above the fire to keep it from spreading. The fire was extinguished in ten minutes. Crews remained on scene checking for hot spots.
Two occupants in the house had self-evacuated prior to the firefighters arrival. A cat was rescued from inside of the home.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
