Fort Wayne Youtheatre news release:
Youtheatre, in collaboration with FWCS’ AMP LAB, brings a classic Christmas movie to life on the Youtheatre stage for the holidays!
Fort Wayne, Indiana (October 29, 2025) – Fort Wayne Youtheatre, the 5th oldest youth theatre in the U.S, continues its 91 season with an all-new holiday production of that beloved Christmas movie, A CHRISTMAS STORY.
Rediscover the magic of the season with A CHRISTMAS STORY, the hilarious & heartwarming play based on the timeless holiday film. Follow 9-year-old Hoosier Ralphie Parker on his quest for the ultimate Christmas gift- a Red Ryder BB gun. Along the way, he must navigate the trials of childhood, a grumpy Santa, a freezing flagpole, and, of course, his father’s infamous leg lamp. This nostalgic romp captures the wonder and chaos of Christmas through the eyes of a kid with big dreams and an even bigger imagination. Complete with all your favorite moments from the movie and more, A CHRISTMAS STORY is a festive treat for the whole family. You’ll shoot your eye out if you miss it!
“Youtheatre LOVES a good Christmas show, a time for family and friends to take time out, gather together, and enjoy a night of holiday entertainment,” says Artistic Director Christopher J. Murphy. “For years you’ve been able to watch A CHRISTMAS STORY for 24 solid hours on TV, but here’s a chance to take a new look at an old friend, live on-stage. You’ll get the Red Ryder BB gun, the flagpole, the bunny suit…all your favorites…but with a few surprises along the way. Plus there’s nothing more magical than watching it all unfold live!”
Youtheatre is thrilled to partner for the first time with FWCS’ AMP LAB, on this production. AMP LAB students interested in fashion and costuming will be learning practical sewing and design skills to work with Youtheatre Costume Designer Jan Klee to bring the period costumes to well-fitted life!
PLUS- December 13 – put on your pink bunny slippers- it’s time for a holiday tradition that’s triple-dog-dare worthy! Join Youtheatre for Ralphie’s Breakfast with Santa, where families can enjoy a hot breakfast (no Ovaltine) and meet Mr. & Mrs. Claus without the lines at Higbee’s Dept. Store! Enjoy character meet & greets, music, crafts, goodie bags, photo opportunities, and more! Wear your ugliest Christmas sweater and compete for a “major award.” Then, after breakfast, head down to the theatre for reserved seating to a special performance of Youtheatre’s A CHRISTMAS STORY.
