Fort Wayne Gets in on the Fun.

New small business combines the art of improvisation with professional development

Fort Wayne, Indiana (October 21, 2025) – The Summit City is about to get a lot more unscripted — a new improv business has opened, delivering quick wit and serious growth through classes, workshops, and team-building experiences that help participants think on their feet and connect. Fort Wayne Improv is up and running and offers opportunities for anyone of any experience level. It offers improv classes and workshops, corporate improv training, private improv shows and eventually public improv shows. This week it opened its permanent location at 1314 E. State Blvd., Fort Wayne.

Michael Bradt, owner, has been entertaining folks as an improviser, comedian, actor, and instructor in the Chicago and northern Indiana area since the late 1990s. He has produced, directed, and performed in thousands of comedy shows. Bradt earned a B.S. in biochemistry from the University of Notre Dame. He taught high school biology, chemistry, and physics before going back to law school and earning his J.D. from Notre Dame. While he moonlights as a comedian, he established his own real estate law practice in 2010. Bradt and his wife, Kelsey, opened their own improv theater in 2021 in Illinois. In 2024, they sold the theater and moved to Fort Wayne to be closer to family. Bradt’s passion for improv can’t be tamped down, so he sought out opportunities to help grow the improv community of Fort Wayne.

Bradt says it didn’t take long for Fort Wayne to feel like home. “I already feel more a part of the community than I did in my life in the Chicago suburbs. I want to create something special in Fort Wayne that residents are proud to have in their community, and I’m ready to work hard to make that happen.”

The next session anyone can participate in is on Thursday, November 13 at 7pm at its new location. A full list of upcoming classes can be found here. Fort Wayne Improv also offers corporate classes and workshops on improv, leadership, team building, and public speaking.

Bradt can be contacted at michael@fortwayneimprov.com or 260.326.6229. More information is available here.

Fort Wayne Improv is a client of the Northeast Indiana Small Business Development Center and received business start-up assistance and marketing-related support.
