Two-year contract between FWCS and FWEA presented

A tentative two-year agreement between Fort Wayne Community Schools and the Fort Wayne Education Association was presented during the October 13, 2025, meeting of the FWCS Board of School Trustees.

Two-year contract between FWCS and FWEA presented

Fort Wayne, Indiana (October 13, 2025) – A tentative two-year agreement between Fort Wayne Community Schools and the Fort Wayne Education Association (FWEA), which represents teachers, was presented during the Monday, Oct. 13, meeting of the FWCS Board of School Trustees.

The proposed contract, which covers July 1, 2025-June 30, 2027, includes:

  • A salary range for all teachers of $50,000-$83,547.
  • A 2% salary increase as well as a step increase in the 2025-26 school year, with only a step increase in 2026-27 school year.
  • An option to reopen the contract in the second year to negotiate salaries for 2026-27, if agreed to by both sides.
  • $200 each contract year for teachers who have a literacy endorsement.
  • Compensation for teachers covering additional classrooms to help manage the substitute teacher shortage.
  • Increasing pay for event workers at varsity football games as well as wrestling, swimming, track and cross-country coaches.

The full proposed Master Contract can be found on the FWCS website. Public comment on the proposal will take place at the Oct. 27, 2025, meeting of the FWCS Board of School Trustees.
