On October 13, 2025, at 2040 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2600 block of North Clinton Street on reports of an unresponsive adult, male subject in the driver seat of a vehicle.

Details/Summary:
On Monday, October 13, 2025 at approximately 8:40AM, officers from the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2600 block of N. Clinton St due to reports of an adult, male subject unresponsive in the driver seat of a vehicle. Shortly after arrival, the male lead officers on a vehicle pursuit. During the pursuit, the suspect advised he was armed with a firearm. The lengthy pursuit ended in a single vehicle crash at 100 E Superior St.
After the crash, the suspect refused to exit the vehicle and stated his intention to commit “suicide by cop”. A negotiator on scene attempted to resolve the incident, before the FWPD Emergency Services Team(EST), Crisis Response Team(CRT) and Aerial Support Unit(ASU) were paged. Multiple attempts to peacefully resolve the incident were unsuccessful, and a tactical call out was initiated.
After the arrival of EST, CRT and ASU, extended negotiations continued, ultimately leading to the deployment of chemical munitions to influence the suspect to exit the vehicle. As a result, the suspect exited the vehicle and was immediately taken into custody. The suspect was then transported to a local hospital in non-life threatening condition. While at the hospital the suspect was downgraded to life threatening condition by medical staff.
This incident is being investigated by the FWPD and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
