On September 22, 2025, at 1759 hours, Fort Wayne Police Department officers responded to the report of a domestic disturbance in the 2100 block of St. Marys Avenue.

Details/Summary:
On Monday, September 22nd, at approximately 5:59 p.m., Fort Wayne Police Department officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at 2100 St. Marys Avenue. During the course of the investigation, an altercation occurred between an individual and a Fort Wayne Police officer.
At 6:07 p.m., officers called for immediate assistance, reporting that an officer had been stabbed. In response to the threat, officers discharged their firearms. Emergency medical personnel were requested to the scene to provide treatment to both the injured officer and the suspect.
The officer was transported to a local hospital in serious condition. (The original release listed his condition as “critical.” But a follow-up notice from the FWPD corrected it to “serious.”)
Investigators from the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Indiana State Police, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office are currently on scene. In accordance with department protocol, the officer(s) involved in the firearm discharge will be placed on administrative leave. More information will be released when available.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
