Fort Wayne, Indiana (July 24, 2025) – Mayor Sharon Tucker today announced that she will lead a community discussion on youth violence. The purpose of the discussion is to hear from the public regarding concerns and receive feedback. In addition, the roles and responsibilities of the Mayor’s office and Fort Wayne Police Department will be explained.
The public is invited to attend the discussion that will be from 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30 at the Allen County Public Library Main Branch in The Theater on Lower Level 2, 900 Library Plaza in downtown Fort Wayne. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
Attendees will need to register in advance and can submit questions here. The registration count will be limited to 190 guests. City TV will record the community discussion, and it will be available on the City TV channel and online for viewing in the days following the event.
Police Chief Scott Caudill will be part of the discussion as well as community advocates Roderick Parker of Big Hearts Community Projects and Foundation One of Unity Barber Shop. Andrew Downs, director of intergovernmental affairs for the City of Fort Wayne, will serve as the moderator.
“This is a critical time for our community. I want every area of our great city to be safe and enjoyable and for business owners, residents, and neighborhoods to not have to deal with the recent senseless actions centered around youth violence and guns that are having a negative impact,” said Mayor Tucker. “I’m hopeful that through open dialogue and trust we can move forward in a positive manner. It’s not going to be easy but I’m not one to back down from challenges and having difficult discussions to find lasting solutions.”
